As promised in my last post, today I’m going to share some pretty, inspirational pictures with you of the second Dwell With Dignity Atlanta house installation! Last post, I shared with you the chairs that I had the pleasure of painting and reupholstering for this project. Today, I’m going to show them to you in the new home makeover of a very deserving young Mother and her 2 precious little daughters.
If you are new to my blog, welcome! Those of you who have been reading my blog for awhile, might remember last Spring’s Dwell With Dignity post where I originally shared what this amazing organization is about. You can read more about it here and here. I think the reason I love this organization so much goes back to what I said in my original DWD post. It’s about helping others by using our gifts & talents in the design and DIY arena. It brings the whole humanity thing full circle. It just feels SO good to help create by contributing to an overall design plan, but ultimately, it feels so good to help enrich a family’s life by creating a home they can take pride in, and one that nurtures them in every way.
So without further ado, let’s start the Dwell With Dignity Atlanta September 2014 House Reveal!!! ( All beautiful photography by Tom England Photography. )
The Kitchen Reveal
Before
After
I love seeing the chairs I was able to contribute in this sweet family’s new kitchen! I think the kitchen is such a happy, bright space, yet sophisticated with the addition of the taupey griege paint color chosen by the design team at AJW Designs Inc. Didn’t they do a lovely job with the design of this space?! ( For paint color & fabric sources, see Part 1, the previous post. )
Moving on to the Mother’s bedroom, designed by Gordon Dunning, another beautiful space in this home makeover.
The Master Bedroom Reveal
Before
After
This is probably my favorite room in this home makeover! The vibrant fuschia bedside tables, luxurious throw pillows on the bed, & pretty curtains make this space so welcoming for a Mom that has worked hard all day, and wants to relax when she gets home. I also like the writing desk area, lovely bench at the foot of the bed, & white and aqua upholstered armchair. ( there is another white and aqua armchair in the living room that can be used to make a pair in the living room area to accommodate more company- a very smart small space planning trick! )
The desk was painted by Erin at DIY on the Cheap blog. Love the navy paint color with gold hardware-such a pretty addition!
On to the little girls’ room…….
The Girls’ Room Reveal
Before
After
I love how the design team of Kandrac & Kole created 2 spaces for the different ages of the girls within one room! Even though it’s out of necessity for the sisters to share a room, I love how everything flows together. I also think the space saver idea of bunk beds is brilliant because it can eventually accommodate the baby sister when she’s older, as well as provide extra sleeping space for company. But the sweet details, that’s what really makes this room special. The art above the crib, that cool chandelier, the little dresses hanging on hooks….all so precious.
The Living Room Reveal
Before
After
I like the neutral walls and sofa with accent colors that can easily be changed. I especially like the floor lamp and curtains in this living room! This room was also designed by Gordon Dunning.
Bathroom Reveal
After ( sorry, I must have missed the ” before” on this one! )
Bathroom design by AJW Designs Inc.
Hallway Gallery Wall was done by Julie Montgomery. Don’t you love the family photos & positive artwork?
Here are a few more heartwarming shots of the homeowner with the Dwell With Dignity volunteers!
Don’t those pictures capture it ALL?! That Mom has got to be loving her new home- the fresh new kitchen, the warm and inviting haven that was created for her in the Master Bedroom, her little daughters’ precious new room for them to grow and play in, and the relaxing and vibrant living room. She must feel such pride in her new beautiful space to live, but also for all the hard work she has accomplished personally and as a Mother. What a beautiful process 🙂

So, didn’t you love it? Isn’t Dwell With Dignity an amazing organization helping families in need get back on their feet and on with their lives? I just love how good design, volunteer work, and a supportive community is making such a difference in so many lives, because the truth of the matter is homelessness does exist. As I mentioned in my last Spring’s DWD post, for years I have wanted to help those less fortunate than myself, but I didn’t know where exactly to “plug in” with my gifts & talents. A huge thanks to my sweet friend, Erin, at DIY On The Cheap for putting the word out in our Atlanta Bloggers’ Group last Spring 2014 about this wonderful organization. It has enhanced my life & changed me to be a part of something bigger than myself 🙂
Hope you enjoyed the reveal today! See y’all soon! xoxo
