Sharing some pretty Fall color from our home in North Georgia today! Summer is my favorite over all season, but Fall is my favorite because of the rich hues, perfect temps, and trees changing colors! After I briefly share our exterior and interior Fall home decor, I’m going to share some pics of our life in North Georgia-Fall Edition. It really is such a beautiful place to live!
This year was the first Fall with the new dark charcoal gray front door and shutters. It made adding some colors I wouldn’t usually fun and creative! I started with 2 fuchsia mums on either side of our front door, thinking I was going to keep it simple this year…. well, you know how that goes! Soon I was craving more of the beautiful mum colors I kept seeing at the stores and then it was pumpkins, etc. A girl can try, but minimalism has never been my thing!
I love to decorate our main fence gate entry, but this year I just added mums- no wreaths to the gates.
I left the purple fountain grass in this urn from Summer and although it appears to be dead, I liked the wild look and structure so I left it!
Inside, I added minimal touches but still like some seasonal decor. We had our hardwood floors refinished in early Fall and then got new carpet after 17 years, so that was alot of work from moving items around to having to be out of our home for a week to stay off the new hardwoods.
A few cattails added to an antique desk gives a Fall feel to this area off the kitchen and family room.
I bought this art canvas for myself last Christmas because I was inspired by the colors in it and I love antique dog prints. I added complimentary floral picks and some Mountain Laurel branches from one of our weekend hikes in the mountains.
A few small white pumpkins in an antique dough bowl my Grandmother gave my Mom on the kitchen table…
An unexpected mum combination that I wouldn’t normally buy, but the grocery was out of my usual solid oranges, rusts, and fuchsia bouquets. I bought the wooden pine cones at Cracker Barrel- they’re actually ornaments and I just unscrewed the eye hook and placed in a bowl. Aren’t they pretty?
I change the flowers every week or two in a few spots in our home, the living room being one of those. I found these giant rust mums and they have lasted at least two weeks! I’ve also been reworking the large gallery wall in the dining room, which I’ll share in another post.
A few more tabletop vignettes from the living/dining rooms….
I mostly use things I already have in my Fall boxes in the basement year after year like the decorative faux pumpkins, pheasants, and Putka pods (mini pumpkins) If I want something new, I will usually just add fresh flowers or touches from nature, unless I see something really unique!
A few touches in the downstairs powder room and upstairs master bedroom….
Now onto Fall in North Georgia! This is the darling little town of Dahlonega, Georgia and our oldest son’s college town. They filmed a Hallmark Christmas movie here and it really is so picturesque.
Another place we love up in the North Georgia Mountains is Lake Winfield Scott. The leaves in the Fall are some of the prettiest I’ve seen!
Same place, just taken about 5 years ago when our sons went with us…
This was an older couple’s property that we happened upon on a country drive one weekend. Beautiful pumpkins for sale….
Another place we love to go in the Fall in North Georgia is Bradley’s Pumpkin Farm. It’s in Dawsonville, Georgia on the way to Amicalola Falls and is a sweet little family owned farm. They let us bring our dogs on hayrides, so that’s fun, and they have a large assortment of heirloom and baking pumpkins, as well as fresh produce, apple pies, and apple cider slushies for sale.
Last, but certainly not least, is Brasstown Resort in Young Harris, Georgia. It’s right next to Hiawassee, which is one of our favorite places! A beautiful place to stay with hiking trails, stables for horseback riding, golf, spa, and cabins. The persimmons hanging on the trees on the way from the stables was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in nature!
We do enjoy Fall and all the seasons in North Georgia, it’s just a great place to live with the mountains and many wineries dotting the way. Most everywhere we go is dog-friendly, including many of the wineries, so that’s a plus- we have our pups with us most of the time as they are not only high-energy and young, but also velcro dogs who do best with their humans! I call them our “late in life children!” Riding in the car is one of their favorites…
And finally, what would Fall be without Pumpkin bread, cakes, and rolls with cream cheese frosting? It’s just the best.
Thank you for reading today! I always appreciate those who take the time to read my blog and hopefully you leave inspired or with some new ideas or info afterwards. If there’s ever a topic you would like to see me share, please let me know!
I hope your Fall has been a colorful one and that you feel ready to enter into the Holiday season without too much stress! It’s always a balancing act trying to fit it all in while staying sane, right?!
