This Fall, we have officially lived in our home for 17 years! When I was thinking back to the last time I redecorated my boys' bathroom, I thought it had been "a few" years, well turns out that was 6 years ago! Really there was nothing wrong with the bath, it just felt tired and a bit blah, plus all our sons are now away at college, so it felt like a good time to update the decor. The walls … [Read more...]
Double Porch Swing Outdoor Space
Several years ago, we created a space under our back deck that has become my favorite place to spend time! Being a Southerner my whole life, I’m not sure why I waited so long to own a porch swing. It’s not just a past time here in the South, but rather a way of life. Like sweet tea, fried chicken, and pimento cheese are Southern staples, so is the Porch Swing. My parents had one on our porch … [Read more...]
Exploring Cashiers, North Carolina
To read my original post on our visit to Highlands, North Carolina first, please click here. For my birthday, we drove from Highlands to Cashiers, North Carolina for the day. Cashiers is just Northeast on US-64 about 10 miles on a curvy little mountain road with beautiful views. Highlands is about 90 miles Northeast of our house near Gainesville, and a beautiful little escape from the Summer heat in Atlanta … [Read more...]
Pine, Citrus, and Spode Woodlands Inspired Thanksgiving Table
Last year's Thanksgiving table was maybe one of my favorites because of a very good day on eBay last Fall! I think that was when I realized how much I loved the adrenalin rush from winning a bid on eBay.... There I was one day, just minding my own business, when I saw an auction for Spode Woodlands dinner plates. I had started collecting the salad plates a few years previously, but wanted some … [Read more...]
Final Dorm Room Design & Empty Nest!
A few months ago, we moved our youngest son into his dorm spacious apartment at Kennesaw State University. I don't know about y'all, but back in "the glory days," (my college years) we had a small dorm room with twin beds, a desk, closet, and vanity. AND we hiked it down the hall to the community bathrooms to shower, etc. These new style dorm apartments come with either 2x2s, 3x3s, or 4x4s, … [Read more...]
Exploring Ballground, Georgia
Hi, friends! Long time, no blog. I know, my apologies... Life has this way of keeping us sometimes busier than we'd planned! Our youngest is graduating from high school in a few weeks and this year has been a whirlwind with that plus our 2 puppies! More on that in a later post.... Today, I'm taking you to Ball Ground, Georgia, a sweet little town in Cherokee County with a population of about … [Read more...]
