Greetings, friends! Happy “Christmas is less than a week away!!” π³ Today, I’m wrapping up my Christmas Home Tour with the Interior. I’ll try my best to keep it short ‘n sweet because I know we are all trying to finish all the holiday shopping, cleaning, & baking on top of everything else we have to do. Whew, Christmas is a lot, isn’t it? I do feel like I kept the gift giving thing a bit more simple this year, not really over stressing and ordering most of our gifts online (what did we EVER do without you, Amazon Prime?) I haven’t even started thinking about Christmas meals or baking. One thing at a time, right?
I have changed a few rooms in our home since becoming full time Empty Nesters, and since I haven’t shared those in separate posts yet, I’ll be sharing them today! No major changes, just some color/decor updates, but they turned out good and I’m happy with them! I’m not one to buy a lot of new Christmas decorations each year; I mostly enhance what I already have with fresh greenery or floral picks, new ribbon, or ornaments here and there. However…I walked into Hobby Lobby earlier this week for a few greenery picks (which were all gone) and found out they had just marked all Christmas wreaths and ornaments down to 66% off! I swear I had no intentions of buying anything, but found myself thinking ahead to next year and not having to pay full price! I found a few pretty ornaments and a swag and went home and added to my existing Christmas decor.
Foyer
I’ve always just kept the stair ribbon on the garland simple, but found these large coppery persimmon colored ornaments at Hobby Lobby and added them.
Our Fontanini manger was a wedding gift almost 27 years ago and one of my favorites.
A few years ago, I bought this brass Santa sleigh and reindeer piece from an Instagram friend and added it to the top of the foyer bookcase.
Living Room
Right off the foyer, is our Living Room/Dining Room. A few years ago, I started using copper, gray, and gold ornaments, in addition to some pheasant ornaments. I add pheasant feathers to the top of the tree and love the rustic elegant feel in this space.
A few table top vignettes…
Dining Room
I kept the pheasants from Thanksgiving and added a pink poinsettia and some Christmas trees I already had. I like to find unique tabletop Christmas trees and add to my collection when I find them.
I bought this pretty needlepoint from a lady on Instagram. Her shop is called Persimmon Creek Collective. I love the colors! I sold these unique Mexican rosaries in my Etsy shop, but they went quickly! This one had a crack in it, so I kept it.
I left the Thanksgiving table setting in place, but added cypress chargers under the plaid chargers. I will add some fresh greenery closer to Christmas. I love these earthy colors and use non-traditional Christmas colors a lot in our home!
I reworked the gallery wall with a few new paintings in the dining room over the past few months, as well. I like the way the wall as a whole flows now.
Kitchen
I’ve had these little boxwood wreaths I found years ago at the Ballard Design’s outlet here and just add new ribbon from time to time to update the look. I love this taupe silk ribbon so much though and have used it the past few years!
Last year I shared on Instagram how I dried these pink grapefruit slices. They add a pretty touch of coral color to the greenery!
Last year (as well as most other years) we had Christmas dinner in the kitchen. Thanksgiving is always in the dining room, but somehow we gravitate to the kitchen for Christmas. Maybe it’s cozier and we’re really just casual people? I found these Pottery Barn red & white deer toile napkins a few years ago and love them. I also have some gold antler napkin rings, but you can’t see the pretty pattern when they’re used, so I skipped those with this particular napkin.
Family Room
I guess I have a “deer theme” going on in here, as there are gold antler picks in the top of the adjacent family room! I found one 3-pack of the deer head ornaments at Hobby Lobby and loved them so much I went to another store but couldn’t find more, but I did find some more online.
I bought the antique reproduction dog canvas over the fireplace for myself last Christmas. I loved the colors in it!
I started some paper whites last year and they didn’t bloom in time for Christmas, but they were so pretty blooming in January once all the π decorations had been taken down. I really don’t like the scent, but they are something special to watch grow and bloom in the bleak Winter months!
Powder Room
A few white Parrot Tulips and brush trees added to the downstairs Powder Room for some Christmas touches…
Let’s go upstairs next…
Master Bedroom
I changed our bedroom colors to deep burnt oranges, browns, blues, & greens this past year. We have had the same cream linen curtains and chocolate velvet upholstered headboard for a long time, but I still like them so I just change the pillows and fabrics occasionally.
I like to add a wreath to the sunburst mirror over our bed, too.
This is the biggest change to our Master bedroom though. Our treadmill was in our sitting area for many years and we remember what a beast it was to get upstairs, so we didn’t see a real option! Well, we started purging and selling stuff and we sold the treadmill and a neighbor friend of Mark’s helped him move it downstairs! Huge relief. Now we have a nice big area off our bedroom that I can display an antique Oushak rug I bought awhile back. (Our dogs’ crates are against the wall but it’s fine)
Upstairs Bedrooms
Now that our sons are all in college and live in apartments or rental houses, we are official Empty Nesters, I guess?
Here are their bedrooms that I keep decorating… π
In our middle son’s room, I found this vintage dog fabric but didn’t have enough fabric for front and back of 24″ pillows, so I added faux leather to the backs. The fabric was inspired by the vintage TV dog lamp I found on Etsy it ebay, I forget which one now. I updated it with a new linen shade.
In trying to make Christmas feel special when our boys come home for the holidays, I added a few more Christmas touches than usual to each of their rooms. π π»πβ¨
This is our oldest son’s room that we just added a queen mattress to, thus it is now officially the “guest room.” I kept the grayed green walls the same, but added a new mix of patterns and colors, along with some Belgium linen curtains, a new rainbow trout print I found on Etsy and some German roe deer antlers. I also added Greek ribbon trim to the lamps he already had. Details make the difference!
I added the Hobby Lobby swag over the turtle prints in our youngest son’s room, and found this unique little wooden Christmas tree at Home Goods. Feels a bit more festive!
Guest Bath
I changed this shower curtain a few months ago and added this trout print to the boys’ bath, now referred to as the “guest bath,” which just sounds weird, but I guess that’s what it is now?
A rustic Santa and some trees sit on the table outside the bath and the hall also gets a few Christmas touches…
I don’t know about y’all, but I’m ready for some of this:
And some of these:
I grew up having sausage balls around the holidays and at church events, but just made them for our boys last Christmas for the first time and they devoured them! I look forward to making them again this year for them. So good!
If you made it this far in my “not too long” post, I thank you so much! I wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and healthy New Year! Enjoy the time with your family and friends during the most wonderful time of the year!
XO
